IMI Precision Engineering is located in Farmington, CT and provides Engineering solutions and manufactures products for the Life Sciences, IA and CV industries.
In addition to performing machining, assembly, and/or testing duties (as applicable), this role is responsible for overseeing cell line personnel to maximize quality, productivity and 5S standards. Regularly audits staffing and production schedule to adhere with dynamic work environment. Leads activities to promote health and safety of colleagues, improve work processes, ensure positive atmosphere, and develop others through the use of lean tools. Partners with Area Supervisor to performance manage cell members and participates with cross functional departments to drive improvements in man, method, material and machine.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assures all quality system procedures, processes, and documentation are followed and is actively involved in production process improvements.
Assures compliance with existing safety guidelines and initiates corrective action to improve employee safety.
Responsible for handling all work in progress transactions including, but not limited to, ensuring point of use shelves are clean and accurate, initiating changeovers, and accounting for used components through finished goods and scrap.
Ability to perform all operations and setups on assigned line and machines.
Ensures all line documentation, production reporting, and quality tracking information is completed accurately and on schedule as required.
Perform all part history requirements including date code, quality audit and statistical process control.
Ensures build schedule targets are met or exceeded. Takes necessary steps to minimize disruption caused by materials, machines, tooling, or personnel issues. Make recommendations for improvements to maximize line utilization and efficiencies.
Cross-Trains personnel to ensure work force flexibility.
Ensures on-the-job training is provided to new and temporary employees so as not to negatively impact product build schedule, quality and line cohesiveness
Assists in investigating and resolving issues preventing inventory accuracy.
Responsible for overseeing 5S activities. Maintains a clean and orderly production line in compliance with IMI 5S guidelines and procedures.
Assures assigned personnel perform approved preventative maintenance on machinery per schedule.
Assists with TPM and SMED activities as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned
High School Diploma, GED, or the equivalent.
Five years work experience in this or similar industry and/or the recommendation of the department supervisor.
Experience in Visual Manufacturing is preferre
Skills and Competencies
Functions well in a cross-functional team environment, willingness to assist and train others.
Experience in referencing technical drawings for production assembly is preferred.
Experienced use of hand tools and measuring equipment required.
Comfortable with the structure and content of the English language.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate.
Must be tactful in their dealings with people and ability to provide constructive criticism.
Good customer service and interpersonal skills
Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow-through and initiative
Computer literate including proficiency in performing transactions in an MRP system.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to lead multiple cross functional teams of varying assembly units.
Ability to manage employee work distribution
Effectively resolves problems, provides excellent customer satisfaction and internal customer relations
